Casa Hogar Belen’s Mission Statement: Casa Hogar Belen offers a loving home to orphans and broken-household children. We aim to provide children everything needed to grow spiritually and physically, prepared to successfully integrate into society.

Casa Hogar Belen’s Bible Verse: Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

This website is run by Friends of Casa Hogar Belen (CHB), a team of friends who love and support CHB, but are not official representatives of CHB. CHB is a Christian children’s home which opened its doors in the summer of 1977 when Antonia Barajas (aka Mama Toña) responded to her calling to care for the children of prisoners. Located in the heart of an industrial area, 15 minutes drive from the Otay Mesa, San Diego border, the orphanage today houses five buildings with an evangelical church on-site pastored by Pastor Jose, Mama Toña’s son. Over the last 38 years, Mama Toña and her family have opened their hearts and doors to thousands of children.

CHB is currently home for 40-50 orphans and broken-home children ranging in age from toddler to young adult. Many of these children have been raised at CHB since their early years as toddlers. Some of these children were deserted by mothers who couldn’t afford to take care of them. Others were found wandering on the streets trying to survive on their own. Several were dropped off by social services due to incarcerated, drug and alcohol addicted parents. Each child is a victims of abuse, abandonment, and/or extreme poverty.

CHB, a faith-based organization, has a vision to be an instrument to shine God’s grace on all children who are in need of comfort, hope, and love, so that they may experience life to their God-given potential.
